Empowering Artisan Communities through Digital Solutions

Background

Tekiti, an organization dedicated to supporting artisan communities across Mexico, faced challenges in capturing and managing impact information across its various high-impact projects and artisan workshops. With a growing network of artisans and increasing demand for transparency and efficiency, Tekiti needed a cost-effective software solution to streamline its operations and better document the impact of its initiatives.

Empowering Artisan Communities through Digital Solutions

Objective

The primary objective of the collaboration between Tekiti and Indus Impact  was to develop a low-cost, efficient software solution that would enable Tekiti to:

  • Capture Impact Information: Document the social, economic, and environmental impact of Tekiti’s projects in real-time.
  • Manage Artisan Workshops: Facilitate the management of artisan workshops by providing a centralized platform for data collection and analysis.
  • Enhance Transparency: Provide stakeholders with clear, accessible data on the outcomes of Tekiti’s efforts to support and uplift artisan communities.

Implementation

  1. Needs Assessment and Solution Design:
Indus Impact conducted a thorough needs assessment to understand the specific requirements of Tekiti’s operations. Based on this analysis, a tailored software solution was designed to meet the unique challenges faced by Tekiti, including multilingual support and user-friendly interfaces suitable for use in rural and urban settings.
  2. Development of the Software Solution:
Leveraging its expertise in digital transformation, Indus developed a low-cost, scalable software platform that allowed Tekiti to capture detailed impact data. The platform included features such as real-time data entry, GPS mapping of artisan workshops, and multimedia support for documenting the artisans’ work and living conditions.
  3. Training and Capacity Building:
To ensure effective use of the new software, Indus provided comprehensive training to Tekiti’s team and key artisans. This training focused on data entry, system navigation, and the importance of accurate impact reporting.
  4. Deployment and Ongoing Support:
The software was successfully deployed across Tekiti’s network of artisan workshops. Indus continues to offer ongoing technical support and updates to ensure the system remains responsive to Tekiti’s evolving needs.

Results

  • Improved Data Management:
Tekiti now has a centralized system for capturing and analyzing impact data, which has significantly improved the management of its projects and workshops. This has enabled more informed decision-making and better allocation of resources.
  • Enhanced Transparency and Reporting:
The new software has made it easier for Tekiti to report on the impact of its work, enhancing transparency with stakeholders, including funders and partners. This has strengthened trust and opened up new opportunities for collaboration and funding.
  • Empowerment of Artisan Communities:
By documenting the impact of their work more effectively, Tekiti has been able to demonstrate the value of artisan contributions more clearly, leading to greater recognition and support for these communities.

Conclusion

The collaboration between Tekiti and Indus Impact  has resulted in a powerful, cost-effective software solution that not only meets Tekiti’s immediate needs but also provides a scalable platform for future growth. This case study highlights how digital innovation can empower traditional industries, improve transparency, and enhance the impact of social enterprises. Through this partnership, Tekiti is better equipped to support its artisan communities and achieve its mission of preserving and promoting Mexican artisanal traditions.
